Hurricane Isabel - November 2003
On Thursday, September 18th, just before Hurricane Isabel struck the State of Virginia, CERT team members were asked to help staff the Emergency Information Center, which was co-located within the Charlottesville 911 Emergency Operations Center. CERT volunteers were on hand fourteen hours a day from Thursday through Sunday answering telephone calls from the 979-INFO line that was installed by the EOC to respond to needs of our community. Questions regarding shelter, downed trees and power lines, issues of food safety, ice, showers, and many others were fielded by CERT volunteers and other emergency personnel.
The pictures below are from the Emergency Information Center and show a mix of CERT team members and other emergency responder personnel.
